Student insecurity: a prepaid card to buy your meals, are you concerned by this little financial boost ?

Spread the love

During this month of February, students will receive a new prepaid and dematerialized card to buy their meals. How much is the financial aid paid and who is concerned ?

Announced at the end of November 2024, this financial aid is part of the Lévi law of April 13, 2023, which aims to promote access for all students to a moderately priced catering offer.

It is awarded by the National Center for University and School Works (Cnous), which must complement the action provided by the Crous network.

For whom?

Any student living in a “white zone” is concerned. That is, any student whose place of education is located more than 20 minutes on foot or by transport from a university or contracted restaurant.

If you meet these conditions, you will shortly receive an email of the Crous, the Ministry of Higher Education told the Parisien.

After having established a list of higher education establishments located in white zones, the academy rectors have sent a list of students eligible for financial aid to the Crous.

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

From February 17 until June, the students concerned will benefit from a dematerialized prepaid card in order to buy their food food.

Downloadable from a mobile application, these cards should be provided to 100,000 students at a cost of 38 million euros in 2025, according to the Ministry of Higher Education.

How much ?

Each month until June, scholarship students will receive an amount of 40 euros on their card and non-scholarship holders an amount of 20 euros.

In the overseas territories (Mayotte, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique and Reunion), the amount of aid will be increased by 10 euros. Thus, scholarship holders will receive a sum of 50 euros and non-scholarship holders 30 euros.

How does it work?

With a spending limit per day set at 20 euros, this card can be used in various food stores such as supermarkets, grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, restaurants, etc. to buy or consume food.

Amounts not spent can be accumulated on the card until July 1, when they will be returned to the National Center for University and School Works (Cnous).

The aid will then be automatically paid each month during the academic year from September to June, as long as the student meets the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

In the event that a student receives their first payment during the year, it will include a reminder of the amounts owed since September.
