While a good portion of YouTube users use it for entertainment, others use it for information, training or to learn new things. Indeed, the platform is full of content such as accounting courses, tutorials for learning to code, or even cooking and DIY tutorials. For people who consume this type of content, Google is offering a new feature that allows you to obtain information from a video, without even having watched it.

As you may already know, Google offers a competitor to ChatGPT called Bard. Since September, this AI has been able to analyze YouTube videos for the user. And recently, as reported by our colleagues at Android Authority, Bard has greatly improved its ability to understand the content of YouTube videos, which allows the user to ask questions related to these videos.

“We're taking the first steps in Bard's ability to understand YouTube videos. For example, if you are looking for videos on how to make an olive oil cake, you can now also ask how many eggs the recipe in the first video requires” , would indicate Google, according to Android Authority.

A feature available in English

< p>This new feature is achieved through the combination of Google Bard and YouTube. According to Android Authority, to benefit from it, you must use the Bard extension for YouTube. As a reminder, extensions allow Google's AI to exploit data from its other applications. But unfortunately, at the moment, Bard extensions are still only available for English-speaking users.

  • Google Bard improves understanding of YouTube video content
  • Thanks to its YouTube extension (available only in English, for the moment), Bard can answer questions asked about the content of a video
  • Google is also working on an integration by Bard with Google Assistant
