“Sunshine Guaranteed”: This Hotel Will Refund Your European Vacation If the Weather Is Bad This Fall

Spread the love

While the gray weather settles in France in November, there is a destination in Europe where the sun shines almost all year round. One hotel even guarantees a refund if the sun goes out during your stay.

It's hard to escape the autumnal gloom that descends on France in November. The days get shorter, the sky becomes covered in a grey veil and temperatures drop inexorably. However, you only need to fly away for a few hours to find summer conditions in certain corners of Europe. Head due south to an island blessed by the gods where the sun shines an average of 340 days a year!

This former British colony, nestled in the heart of the Eastern Mediterranean, enjoys a particularly mild climate for much of the year. Even in winter, it is not uncommon to find a big blue sky and temperatures ranging between 17 and 20°C during the day. Enough to make the inhabitants of the northern regions, bundled up in their coats and scarves, green with envy.

This destination has many assets to seduce visitors in search of autumnal mildness. Its fine sandy beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see, its small colorful fishing ports, its Byzantine monasteries clinging to the mountainside, its fields of olive trees as far as the eye can see… Not to mention a sunny gastronomy, a clever blend of Greek and oriental influences, which highlights honor local products: sheep's cheese, mezze, grilled fish, honey baklava have made its reputation… You guessed it ? Heading for the island of Cyprus and its sun, even in the heart of winter.

And if all these arguments are not enough to convince you to jump on the first plane, here is an offer that should finish making up your mind. The 5-star City of Dreams resort, located on the south coast of the island less than an hour's drive from Paphos, is so sure of its sunshine that it does not hesitate to guarantee it in black and white to its customers!

By booking a stay at this luxury establishment, you will automatically benefit from the “Sunshine Guarantee”, a rather original sun guarantee. The principle is simple: if during your stay, a day does not meet the criteria of 70% direct sunshine between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. according to the weather site AccuWeather, the hotel will offer you an extra night to compensate! “There is nothing worse than planning your holiday to escape the cold only to have the weather turn bad when you get there,” says Grant Johnson, vice-president of the firm City of Dreams, in an interview with Time Out magazine. “We are lucky to have sunshine almost every day in Cyprus, but to reassure our guests we will be inviting them to come back for free if they didn't have any sun during their stay with us.”

And the compensation doesn't stop there. The establishment will also offer free excursions to aggrieved guests, such as hikes in the hinterland or visits to wine estates to discover local wines. Enough to transform disappointing weather into an experience despite all successful! Rooms at this hotel, with stunning views of the Mediterranean, start at €270 per night. A steep price, to be sure, but City of Dreams is also offering a 15% discount on all bookings made before November 30 for stays until December 20, 2024. At that price, you'll almost be tempted to bet on a rainy stay to be able to enjoy it longer!
