They want to save the SNCF Rodez – Millau line

#AVEYRON The railway workers are contesting the freezing of the rehabilitation project for the railway section between Séverac and Rodez, decided by the Region. Abandoned since 2017, it was to be the subject of a vast renovation program which, for an estimated cost of between 130 and 160 million euros, was to be completed by 2030.

With planned four daily round trips adapted to school hours and those of employees in the sector. However, this project is expected to bear the brunt of the budgetary restrictions announced by local authorities. The CGT is calling on rail workers to “continue the fight”, Tuesday, during a “symbolic cleaning” of the railway line, at Laissac station: a “clearing operation”.

The union believes that “this line is useful. The timetable changes on the Rodez-Millau line, made before its closure, have proven that when the trains are well positioned, they are full. It is also an essential link for the Mende-Toulouse and Rodez-Béziers/Montpellier connections.”

His nights with Gainsbourg

#CARCASSONNERobert Pico publishes his 23rd book, Delon et compagnie, in which he retraces his career in French showbiz in the sixties, reports L’Indépendant. We meet Delon, Gabin, Gainsbourg and all the headliners of the time. The book is published by Jean-Marc Savary from Carcassonne.

A dedication was organized at the foot of the Cité. The author from Montauban recounts his youth in Paris, where he wrote songs. “The one who left the biggest impression on me was Serge Gainsbourg. We had the same passions. I had written a song about Brassens and him. I met him on that occasion. We started hanging out together near the Élysée Matignon, the Don Camilo and the Trois Baudets. He was sometimes hard to follow,” he smiled.

Santons over a meter tall

#LOZÈRE A steady stream of families had gathered at the Place de l'Église on Saturday in Rieutort-de-Randon to attend the opening of the giant nativity scene, installed by the municipality.“We are putting the church back in the middle of the village, if I may say so,” confided the mayor and former MP, Francis Saint-Léger. We are simply recalling, without controversy, what we celebrate on December 25: the birth of Jesus.”

More than 300 people have therefore discovered the eleven 1.10 m high santons. Santa's chalet also opened for the occasion.

Surprise opening of the Aigoual ski resort

#GARD They decided at the last minute: the managers of the Alti Aigoual resort have chosen to open four downhill ski slopes and a cross-country ski loop on Sunday. “The snow is really good,” explained Denis Boissière, co-manager of the resort, on Sunday morning.

This opening does not mean, however, that the resort is out of the woods for downhill skiing: “The call to communities remains, we are not saved, far from it. We are still 100,000 euros short and, for the moment, we are assured that until December 31.” A month ago, the Cévennes operator launched solidarity package purchases to prepare for winter, after the difficult previous seasons, when there was a lack of snow.

Today's figure: 600

#HAUTE-GARONNE This is the number of demonstrators gathered on Sunday in Toulouse on the Ramblas to protest against the A69 motorway project and the administrative court's decision to reopen the investigation of the case and refer its decision to the merits, announces the Dépêche du Noon.

The protesters believe that this is “their last chance to act before the concreting”. They claim that “the environmental decisions are illegal” and should file a suspension order this Monday morning.
