How are tablet manufacturers doing?? Very well according to this new study published by analysts at Counterpoint Research. But who is really dominating this market that has regained its colors??

Sales are on the rise

First lesson from the published data: global shipments increased by 15% in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same period the previous year. Kevin Lee, Research Associate at Counterpoint, comments:

The return of market leaders to normal model release schedules signals an optimistic outlook for 2024 and is an indication of renewed consumer confidence.

Apple in pole position

Apple dominates with a market share of 37% just ahead of Samsung (20%). Huawei and Lenovo complete this podium with 7% each. From a dynamic point of view, Apple improves its shipments by 14%. Samsung does a little better (16%). But it is on the China side that we find the most beautiful growth.

Thus, Huawei progresses by 49%, while Lenovo's sales increase by 17%. Finally, Xiaomi explodes its performances (+92%), boosted by its good figures on the European and Asian markets.

A fanfare end to 2024 ?

For the future, Liz Lee, associate director, anticipates good news :

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

Global tablet market shipments look promising for the remainder of 2024, with the releases of the new iPad and iPad Mini in addition to Samsung’s flagship S series, both expected in the second half of the year. As improving macroeconomic conditions continue to bring demand back to healthy levels, we expect an increasing contribution from emerging market regions in 2024.

To complement this data, we can refer to an analysis dedicated to Apple published this summer by CIRP Consumer Intelligence Research Partners. The experts explained that the best-seller of the brand with the apple is none other than the iPad Pro.

The latter was able to assert itself by capturing no less than 43% of overall iPad sales in the quarter ending in June 2024. The device therefore dominates the iPad mini and the iPad Air, which were unable to compete. To learn more about these figures, feel free to reread our article here.

What you need to remember:

  • Tablet sales are rising sharply worldwide
  • Apple dominates this market ahead of Samsung, Huawei and Lenovo
  • Chinese companies are the ones making the most progress
