Sept podiums dont deux titres pour Nîmes, quatre pour Alès aux championnats de France juniors en petit bassin à Massy (Île-de-France), début décembre.

The best French juniors gathered in Massy (Essonne) from December 5 to 9 for the French championships in 25-meter pools.

To be at the party, you had to be in the top fourteen of your year of age in your discipline. Among them, seven swimmers from the Nautic-club nîmois and seven from the CNC Alès. For a very good record of eleven podiums from Gard.

Nîmes' Matéo Grégoire-Charmasson and Pablo Morales in the spotlight

“We ranked 28th French club in these championships, rejoices Nicolas Chanal, sports manager of the NCN. We broke 85% of our records and we come back with 7 medals, 10 A finals and 9 qualifications assured for the French junior championships in the 50m pool next April.”

With, once again in the headliner, Matéo Grégoire-Charmasson (born in 2008), French champion in the 200m butterfly (signing the fourth best French performance of all time for 16-year-olds) and in the 800m (7th best performance in French history in 16 years). A double gold, and a double silver for the Nîmes native, 2nd in the 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle… and therefore one of the star swimmers of these championships!

In his wake, Pablo Morales climbed onto the podiums in the 200m (3rd), 400m (2nd) and 800m (2nd). A sacred performance(s) there too!

We will then note the fourth places of Louisa Migliore in the 50m backstroke and Matis Fronteau in the 400m medley. The latter achieved a nice group shot, with also a 6th place in the 50m breaststroke and a 7th in the 200m medley.

Finally, Sacha Pavelic reached a great final in the 400m medley (7th); while Sephora Cha and Chloé Gascuel did not disgrace themselves.

The Alésian nugget Lalie Martin silver

The Alésiens also did not make the trip for nothing: four medals and six Gard records in the process for the Cercle nautique des Cévennes.

With the nugget Lalie Martin, born in 2010, in the headliner: she distinguished herself with two silver medals in the 200m and 400m freestyle, with two new departmental marks for 14-year-olds. Add a Gard 14-year-old record in the 100m (8th in the A final) and a 7th place in the 400m medley, and you have a very successful competition…

Double podium also for Titouan Parat, but in bronze, in the 800 and 1,500 m, beating his personal bests. He also finished 6th in the 400 m.

Loucas Moreno made it to the A final twice, in the 100 and 200 butterfly (8th and 6th), and his training partner Lorenzo Vincent, still in the 200 butterfly, finished 8th. Great performance by Noélie Sandoval, 4th in the 200 medley with a new departmental record for 16-17-18 year olds.

Finally, the two sprinters Victor Brunet and Evan Pereto finished 7th and 8th in their A final (16 and 14 year olds).

Meeting: Nîmes meeting from December 20 to 22 in Nemausa.
