The inter-union is demanding above all the withdrawal of standardized assessments eacute;es, but the press release points out other reasons for mobilizing such as the “clash of knowledge” or the recent appointment of Michel Barnier to Matignon.

A week after the start of the school year, a first strike by school teachers is being organized this Tuesday, September 10, 2024. The call for mobilization was launched at the end of August by the FSU-Snuipp, a primary school teachers' union, since joined by SUD &Education and the CGT &Educ'action. The inter-union is protesting above all against the generalization of national assessments. Éassessments that must be held this week in classes ranging from CP to CM2.

So, ` what to expect ? "Çit doesn't look like it's going to be huge", confides the FSU-Snuipp to Actu.fr. No precise figures, but the union already estimates that “this will not be the biggest strike for education”. “We are not expecting a massive mobilization”, confirms Isabelle Vuillet, national secretary of the CGT “Education Action”, Ouest-France.

The main reason is the choice of date, which some consider too close to the start of the school year, a rather busy period for teachers. Others also point out that many teachers have already gotten into the habit in recent years, when these evaluations were still optional. Overall, a slightly larger turnout is expected in the Paris region, and more particularly in Seine-Saint-Denis, where it could be the strongest, “much more than in the region”, relays Actu.fr.
