Tesla is stepping up efforts to revive (complicated) sales of its Cybertruck

When it was first unveiled in 2019, Tesla's Cybertruck created an unprecedented craze, with more than 2 million customers expressing interest in the brand's first electric pickup. It took no less than four years to see the Cybertruck finally arrive on the roads, with a launch at the very end of 2023 on the American market.

Is Tesla's Cybertruck a flop ?

A chaotic development that was supposed to lead to a grandiose success story for the giant Tesla. But the reality seems very different… Indeed, at the beginning of the year Tesla published the sales figures for the last quarter and for the year 2024, and for the first time, the manufacturer's sales were down.

In its results, the American manufacturer ignores the sales figures for its Cybertruck. According to its data, Tesla sold 1,704,093 Model 3s and Model Ys in 2024. As for “other” models, a category that includes the Cybertruck, the latter totaled 85,133 deliveries, without further details.

It is therefore difficult to know more or less precisely the sales volume of Tesla's electric pick-up, but various elements tend to confirm that success would not really be there. Not only has the American giant struggled to empty its reservation book, which numbered around 40,000 units, but worse still, Cybertruck Founder Editions, or launch editions, are still available in the catalog.

And that's not all, since the manufacturer also offers a free covering offer, with a limited choice of colors, of course, but an option whose value still amounts to nearly 4 500 dollars.

Obviously, brand enthusiasts (and the most fortunate) allowed the Cybertruck to experience some sales peaks at its launch (and the following months), but the frenzy would have quickly subsided. In addition to its extraordinary price and size, the Tesla Cybertruck has also been the subject of numerous recalls, due to various issues.

Recently, some owners have seen the battery of their Cybertruck exchanged free of charge by Tesla, without really understanding the why and how.
