While smartphone manufacturers are banking on AI to bring new features to their devices, Tesla continues to develop this technology to make drivers' daily lives easier. Recently, Elon Musk's company published, at the request of the general public, its roadmap for the deployment of new technologies based on artificial intelligence. And this roadmap indicates when the manufacturer could finally offer its autonomous driving technology, called FSD or Full Self-Driving in our countries.

Tesla aims for FSD expansion in Europe

According to the electric car manufacturer's publication, FSD technology could arrive in Europe and China in the first quarter of 2025. Unfortunately, the conditional remains in force for the moment, because Tesla indicates in this publication that the deployment of this new product in our countries and in the Middle Kingdom will depend on obtaining the necessary authorizations. In any case, drivers should be pleased to learn that Tesla still plans to launch this technology (already available in the US and Canada) in Europe. The promotional video below, recently released by the automaker, shows how this technology works.

It remains to be seen whether Tesla will be able to stick to its roadmap. In any case, according to Elon Musk, the manufacturer should have no technical difficulties in offering its autonomous driving in other countries. “Our solution is a general solution that works everywhere. It would work even on another Earth,” the CEO had said on this subject.

A major source of income for Tesla ?

In any case, it is important to clarify that FSD technology, if Tesla manages to expand its availability in markets such as the EU or China, could have a significant impact on the company's finances. Indeed, access to FSD is not free, but is reserved for drivers who take out a $99 per month subscription in the United States. Furthermore, in addition to wanting to offer FSD technology in other countries, Tesla could even offer this technology to other electric car brands. “A few major OEMs have expressed interest in a Tesla full-autonomous driving license. And I think there will be more over time. But we can’t comment on the specifics of those discussions,” Musk revealed during a conference call in July.

  • Tesla has just published its roadmap for the deployment of its AI-based features
  • And this roadmap indicates that the manufacturer plans to offer its autonomous driving, called FSD, in Europe and China, from the first quarter of 2025
  • However, the publication also specifies that this deployment will depend on obtaining the green lights from the authorities
  • The deployment of FSD in other countries could allow Tesla to increase its revenues, since the functionality is paid
  • Tesla could also offer its technology to other brands
