Upon their arrival at Lyon station, some passengers were disillusioned about having spent their New Year's Eve stuck. “We are tired, we have a 10-year-old who is exasperated, who was hoping to see his cousins for New Year's Eve… It's ruined”, laments a user of the Lyon-Paris train, to our colleagues at BFM TV.
“We missed New Year's Eve a bit, but at least we'll remember this one”, says another passenger.
Taxis were made available during the night for passengers who were victims of this incident. Just over 3,000 people were affected by these delays in the middle of Christmas Eve.
Some trains were up to 5 hours late, but none were cancelled, according to the SNCF. In addition, the organisation indicated that it would compensate up to 100% of the ticket price of customers most affected by the delays.
