The city of Mende and the University of Nîmes are forging ever closer partnerships

Deux conventions ont été signées fin janvier par les deux institutions. L'université gardoise devient notamment l’établissement de rattachement pour le dispositif Campus connecté.

Régine Bourgade, Mayor of Mende and Benoît Roig, President of the Experimental Public Establishment (EPE) Nîmes Université, formalized their partnership by signing two agreements in the presence of Laurent Suau, President of the Departmental Council, Monique Commandré, Director of the Mende Nîmes Université campus, and Patricia Rousson, elected representative of the city delegated to higher education and digital technology.

The first concerns the provision by the City of three staff members on the Mende campus site. The second concerns the identification of the EPE Nîmes University as the affiliated university for the Connected Campus system created in Mende in 2021, until now affiliated with the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD).

“Building solid foundations for education”

“The Mende Campus of the EPE Nîmes University thus created will continue to promote positive spin-offs in terms of higher education, employment, dynamism and attractiveness of the region“, believes Régine Bourgade.

Indeed, as explained by Benoît Roig, president of the EPE Nîmes University “the presence of Nîmes University in Mende is not symbolic. Its objective is to build solid foundations for higher education in the region and to develop it in the best conditions.”

Developing the offer

These agreements, in addition to strengthening the anchoring of higher education in Mende, ensure the provision by the City Gilles Gabrillargues, Laetitia Suau and Valérie Pelat. “Their work is essential to the proper functioning of this campus“, Monique Commandré stressed.

The city of Mende has been involved in a partnership approach for many years to promote the reception and development of higher education provision in the area.

Different training courses offered

As a reminder, from 1994 to 2024, the city hosted a branch of the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD). At the end of the 2023-2024 academic year, this university branch was transferred to the EPE Nîmes University. This is also the first location of the university gardoise outside the city of Nîmes.

The EPE Nîmes university offers training in tourism with a specialized master's degree in transition management and a professional degree in business, festival and regional tourism, as well as a professional degree in web design and writing.
