In Sheffield, in the north of England, a 15-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in a school on Monday, February 3. A suspect of the same age has been arrested.

A suspect of the same age was arrested. Local authorities said investigators are “working at a rapid pace to establish a complete picture of how this tragedy unfolded,”, reports < strong>Sky News.

“I want to assure you that our officers will remain on site and in the area to reassure parents, staff and local residents while our investigation continues”, said Deputy Police Commissioner Lindsey Butterfield. She also urged “anyone with information” to come forward to investigators.

A school has a “good” reputation

In late January, the school had already been placed on lockdown due to “threatening behaviour between a small number of students” who were making “threats of physical violence”.

However, according to Sky News, a 2023 report from Ofsted, the body responsible for monitoring schools, described the school's reputation as “good”.

Faced with this “horrible news”, the Sheffield MP stressed that “serious questions will have to be answered about how this could have happened”.

For his part, Olivier Coppard, Mayor of South Yorkshire, recalled that “the vast majority of our young people do not carry knives, but a single incident of knife crime is an incident too many, because when we see knife crime happening, the consequences are devastating”.
