À partir de ce vendredi 31 janvier, les Carrières des lumières des Baux de Provence dévoilent leur nouvelle exposition numérique immersive consacrée à Claude Monet.
After the success of the immersive exhibition dedicated to Egypt (760,000 visitors!), the Carrières des Lumières des Baux-de-Provence are returning to painting with “Monet, creator of impressionism”, designed by Nicolas Charlin. The artistic director invites visitors to explore the work of the “extremely prolific” artist, making the connection between his paintings and his era.
The period of Impressionism is full of upheavals. Cities are transformed, the railway allows travel, metal bridges reshape the landscape, the smoke of locomotives and the fog of factories invade the space, the Japanese prints arrive in Europe. So many transformations that can be found in the paintings of Monet, who frees himself from academic codes to free painting.
With audacity, the artistic director Nicolas Charlin also plays with Monet's touch to spray the Carrières des Lumières with colors, until the joyful blossoming and light water lilies.
This year, the short program is dedicated to Douanier Rousseau, for a dreamlike journey through the work of the naive painter who, without ever leaving the garden plants in Paris, has created a whole world.
To be seen from January 31, every day, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Carrières des Lumières, route de Maillane, Les Baux-de-Provence. €16.50, reduced €14, under 17s €13, under 7s free, family €46. 04 90 49 20 02.
