Le comité de défense et de promotion de l’hôpital public et de la santé dans le bassin cévenol dénonce, ce vendredi 24 janvier, la situation actuelle et organise une conférence, dans quelques jours, pour en débattre.

We talk to people and we share this concern.” And the committee “is here to fan the flame”. “To alert!”, insists the first. How ? “Given our forces present, we do what we can…”, concedes Jean-Marc Leyssenne, doctor and spokesperson for the said committee.

Jean-Marc Leyssenne: “History repeats itself endlessly”

Jean-Marc Leyssenne has never stopped denouncing that “history repeats itself endlessly end” since 1972 and the establishment of a numerus clausus for doctors which, he says, results in particular in “an unbearable situation for users and professionals”. He, pointing out a growing liberalism in this sector of activity, is worried. He is worried about community medicine in view of the lack of general practitioners, among other things, and questions the policy of the Executive regarding Social Security and its financing.

A focus on Alès and the Cévennes and the Chac

Of course, the members of the committee pay particular attention to the Cévennes, indicating, for example, that Alès has around thirty general practitioners compared to 56 in 2020, and that in the Agglo, their number would have fallen from almost 80 to 55. Like the medical deserts, the Chac also worries them. “The sustainability of the current emergency department is not assured”, believes Jean-Marc Leyssenne, extending his concern to the entire hospital. For him, this is a “serious situation that will deteriorate with the closure of the Bonnefon emergency department on December 31”.
