Absent for many years from the public scene, Brigitte Bardot rarely expresses herself on social networks. On her account X, the few messages posted by the ex-heroine of the film And God… created the woman are related to the cause that is close to her heart since always: animal protection.

This is how on December 16, she published a message demanding the annulment of the court decision to euthanize Rillette, a female wild boar, saved from the trash by a breeder a few kilometers from Chaource in the Aube. “What monsters are asking for his euthanasia ?”, wrote Brigitte Bardot, indignant, recalling that the animal was vaccinated and sterilized. This Tuesday, December 17, Brigitte Bardot reacted to the release of Paul Watson, imprisoned in Greenland. Since last summer, Japan had been demanding the extradition of the environmental activist. The founder of the NGO Sea Shepherd and whale defender has finally been released by the Danish authorities. “The release of Paul Watson, is the miracle of Christmas !“, wrote the 90-year-old former actress in a handwritten note, accompanied by a drawn flower.

“Thank you, my God!“, she concluded in blue ink, as she usually does. On October 22, on X, Brigitte Bardot had requested the release of Paul Watson and implored President Macron togrant political asylum to the man who has opposed, for years, the hunt for whale.

Paul Watson is now free

A former naval officer, Paul Watson was first a Greenpeace activist before creating his own movement in 1977: Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. He had been imprisoned in Greenland since July 21 following a warrant issued by Interpol at the request of Japan. A video of the Canadian activist upon his release from prison was posted on the Captain Paul Watson Foundation's X account, in which he can be seen looking forward to “coming home for Christmas.”

Furthermore, Paul Watson assures that the hardest part of his five months in prison was not having been able to see his two sons since June. The activist, who has officially requested French nationality, will now be reunited with his family, to the great joy of one of his greatest supporters: Brigitte Bardot.
