A former prisoner from the Pontet prison (Vaucluse) was discovered by chance in Aubenas (Ardèche) on Thursday, December 26. The man had not returned to detention after being granted leave in 2022.
On Thursday, December 26, in the middle of the afternoon, the police in Aubenas accidentally stopped a man in possession of a small piece of cannabis resin. As he had no ID on him, he was taken to the police station, where he gave a false identity, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

The police, however, managed to discover his true identity: he was a prisoner who had never returned to the Pontet remand center in Vaucluse after being granted leave in 2022.
Cannabis and a knife
During the security search, the police found 13 additional pieces of cannabis resin as well as a knife.
In total, this homeless man, aged 34 and originally from Gard, was in possession of more than 25 grams of resin, packaged in the form of bars. He is being prosecuted for these acts, as well as for having provided a false identity to the police.
Brought before a magistrate of the Ardèche public prosecutor's office on Friday, December 27, he was placed in detention and will be tried in immediate appearance on Monday, January 30 before the Privas criminal court, according to France Bleu. In addition, a four-month prison sentence that he had not served was carried out.
