"The President wanted to intervene": Laurent Nicollin will address Téji Savanier and the MHSC group before the trip to Lyon

Jean-Louis Gasset and his men are expected in Lyon on Saturday (9 p.m.). Midi Libre – Dorian Cayuela

MHSC coach Jean-Louis Gasset said on Thursday, January 2, that the club president would address the group and its captain, whose comments had sparked controversy after the elimination in the Coupe de France at the end of December.

Montpellier HSC president Laurent Nicollin will address the group on Friday. Coach Jean-Louis Gasset announced this on Thursday during the press conference before the trip to Lyon on Saturday (9 p.m.), which served as a media comeback for the Hérault club.

Fifteen days after the elimination at Le Puy, the N2 club that beat Montpellier 4-0 in the Coupe de France, the Hérault coach was questioned in particular about the controversy that followed this shipwreck. During this meeting, on December 21, Hérault captain Téji Savanier retorted “when you get 210,000 euros, it's fine”to opposing supporters who were teasing him about MHSC's last place in L1.

“We'll listen and then we'll adapt”

“I'm used to respecting the hierarchy. Okay ? For me, we talk about the sport, the club will talk about the rest”, affirmed Jean-Louis Gasset, leaving it up to management to decide whether or not to take measures. This could be announced by its president, Laurent Nicollin, expected Friday morning in front of the players and staff for a speech.

“I'm waiting for tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock, the president wanted to speak on Friday at the departure for Lyon. There is surely a strategy, so the group will listen, I will listen, and then we will adapt to the situation”, explained the coach from Pailladin.

“A few players make me feel like going elsewhere”

This presidential speech also comes as the winter transfer window officially began on January 1st (closing on February 3rd). And could concern several Montpellier players. “IThere are a few players who make me feel, perhaps, a desire for elsewhere, believes Gasset. So we're going to have to sort out the situation, maybe have a brilliant idea. “Kiki” Kouyaté, with what I see in training, is a ray of sunshine, because he wants to, he's aggressive, he's respected by everyone. So we're going to have to find these motivated, aggressive players, who are in the project.”

“The sooner we get a positive result, the sooner we'll get our morale back, people will come with us. Everyone is angry. But they're right. We're alone. And you have to get by alone. With the people who are there”, added Jean-Louis Gasset, calling for “to be positive”.
