Here we go for a 16th edition! The “Que du bonheur” hike, organized by the Association sportive Bagnols Marcoule (ASBM) cyclo will take place on Sunday, January 19 from Saint-Pons-la-Calm. On the program, mountain bike circuits ranging from 18 to 50 km, gravel bike routes of 65 km and finally two new walking trails of 10 and 18 km.

This year, the organizers are expecting around 1,000 people. “This event attracts participants from Gard, Vaucluse and Ardèche, explains Gilbert Deloge, president of the club. We don't really make any money from this type of event. We organize it for the athletes, because if we don't do it, there are no more bike rides. And then it keeps us busy. The organization, clearing and marking of the trails require two months of preparation.

Several new features

This year, the organizers have opted for a few new variations of the previous circuits. “We try to offer variations from year to year for our regulars, says Gilbert Deloge. We can't make fundamental changes because there are parts that are always more practical to climb or descend.

The event has obtained the “Verte Tout-Terrain” label, awarded by the French Cycling Federation. Several refreshment stands will be offered on the different circuits. Once the rides are over, ASBM cyclo volunteers will distribute snacks.

Registrations are done on site, at the Saint-Pons-la-Calm village hall between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.; Prices: €7 for licensed cyclists and €10 for the general public. For walking tours, it costs €7.
