Three application files have arrived at the Sète town hall as part of the award of a concession for the operation of a restaurant on the Lazaret beach. After examining the elements provided by the applicants, the City decided to award, during the last municipal council, this lot to the company “le Pin Parasol de Benjamin Soto”, as specified by Francis Hernandez, the elected representative for commerce. For the record, it was he who launched the Spritz à la Gentiane de Sète in 2023, at the Classic, his father's establishment on the Quai De-Lattre-de-Tassigny.

Catering, maintenance, emergency assistance

Located on the slopes of the beach, a few meters from the famous umbrella pine (which probably gives the company its name) where the festival concludes every year 22 here is Georges with the mermaid procession, the establishment will offer, as stipulated in the concession defined by the State, a traditional catering activity, ice cream sales, a tea room. It will also ensure the provision, maintenance and cleaning of public toilets, and the maintenance of part of the beach. It will also have to take on the role of first aid relay (the lifeguard station is very close) in the event of special situations on the beach.

Minimum opening during the summer

The contract, for a payment of €36,000 per year to the City for the land tax, is planned for a period of eight years. Period during which the operator must be – at least – open 7 days a week, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. from June 1 to September 30. So nothing prevents it from being open before or after this time slot. We will know more in the spring of 2025.

I subscribe to read the rest
