Après une première édition réussie, la Palmarès des cuvées Salagou Coeur d’Hérault est déjà de retour en Clermontais. Le rendez-vous est programmé le 4 avril au Château de Malmont, à Villeneuvette.

“We want to bring a different perspective to wine,” says Marina Ribeyrolle, director of economic development at the Comcom du Clermontais. A different perception, embodied in Clermontais by the second edition of the Salagou Coeur d'Hérault vintage awards scheduled for April 4, 2025, at the Château de Malmont. After a first remarkable edition, and prepared in record time, this second meeting intends to root the initiative in the wine-growing landscape of the Pays Coeur d'Hérault and, therefore, to highlight its particularities.

A majority of appellations from the territory represented

“The elected officials, the president (of the CCC) Revel and Olivier Brun, vice president for economic development, wanted to show support for the wine industry and to bring winegrowers to life around the Salagou Coeur d'Hérault brand. Today, a majority of the region's appellations are represented”, in the Awards, recalls Marina Robeyrolle. More than 100 vintages were already in the running for a 2024 edition synonymous with recognition because “of the 80 estates established in the region, half had already responded. For us, it was already a first bet won. The winegrowers took hold of the project”, savors the eco manager. And, since December 6, registrations are still open for the second season of the Palmarès.

New Trophies and a trade show-oriented format

This year, new trophies are offered including the Sustainable Development Commitment Trophy and the Organic and Dynamic Cuvée Trophy which highlight the efforts and approaches of producers who honor virtuous environmental orientations and approaches.

Partners of the second Awards

This year, Marie Wodecki, elected Best Young Sommelier in France 2023, will be the patron of the edition. Chef Julien Dubroc will represent the Chefs d'Oc network, partner of the 2025 edition. Winner of the 2019 Sud de France Sommellerie Challenge, former sommelier of the Cité restaurant in Carcassonne, Baptiste Ross-Bonneau will be the consulting sommelier. The Palmarès is open to all the appellations present in the territory including the IGP Pays d’OC, the AOP Languedoc and the IGP Hérault. This year will also mark the emergence of the IGP Hérault appellation, additional mention Coteaux du Salagou.

“Given the complicated context for winegrowers, elected officials wanted to focus all our efforts on a professional, business-to-business event on April 4. We are putting all our energy into bringing in regional professionals and attracting potential buyers: restaurants, wine merchants, large-scale retailers, etc. We will be in a more trade fair format”. The idea remains to highlight the quality and diversity of the country's terroirs, but also to offer them commercial outlets…
