The solidarity locker room of the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul association was completely reorganized during these end-of-year holidays. It must be said that it was a victim of its success: on the one hand, because the donors are particularly generous and, on the other hand, because the needs are significant for the public welcomed.

“We did a complete reorganization to optimize the space and even create a fitting room! We put my husband to work making the shelves, and we carefully put away the laundry. Anything that is not clean or in perfect condition is recycled”, says Leïla Haoyaghi, the driving force behind the project.

A solidarity canteen too

This renovation, led by a dozen volunteers, was encouraged by Pierre Bargatte, manager of the two places managed by the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul teams: the solidarity canteen and the changing room, with a view to creating a complementarity.

Thus, if the target audience was, initially, the homeless frequenting the charity restaurant, it has diversified the public welcomed. Similarly, the cloakroom now provides a service to families and single people, but also to bargain hunters looking for quality linen.

Contact: cloakroom, 16 rue Parmentier. Open Monday to Thursday, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday morning, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (collection and sale of clothing, underwear, household linen, blankets, etc.); 04 67 30 14 27. Free access, no proof is required.
Solidarity canteen: 27 cours Honoré-de-Mirabeau; 04 67 30 14 27. Contribution requested from those welcomed: 2 euros, free for children.
