The SOS of a tourist who wants to return from Mayotte

#NÎMES Manon Corbière, a Nîmes resident stuck in Mamoudzou since the disaster caused by cyclone Chido, is appealing to the authorities to finally return to mainland France. “These are very difficult conditions and, on a human level, it is very hard to see such misery. My file is supposedly not a priority. Foreigners have been evacuated by their consulate, as have the sick.”

Arriving in Mayotte on December 11 to see a teacher friend who had settled there, the young woman is still staying at home while waiting. She was able to go to the supermarket to get what she needed, rice, pasta or flour. She was also able to collect water “in construction site tanks” and stock up.

A trailer found dead

#ARIÈGE The lifeless body of a trailer was found, Saturday, at the end of the day, in the Sédour sector, not far from Tarascon-sur-Ariège, announces La Dépêche. The residents had alerted the emergency services after hearing calls for help, then the sound of a landslide. The military immediately launched a search, without success.

A second call, this time to the fire brigade, was made at 4pm by the relatives of a trailer, worried about not seeing him return. For several hours, the gendarmerie helicopter flew over the area, before finding the lifeless body of the runner. Fall, fainting, accident, the causes of his death are currently unknown, an investigation is open.

The Evans Comedy Club is setting up

#CARCASSONNE Max’s Evans is launching its first comedy club, announces L’Indépendant. And this comedian from Ardèche, who lives in Toulouse, chose Carcassonne. “We want to develop this concept in medium-sized towns. The goal is to make known talents who don't have the means to go to Paris”, he explains.

At 121 Franklin-Roosevelt Avenue, starting January 10, there will be laughter from Wednesday to Monday evening. In this intimate room, which can accommodate thirty people, the principle will be simple: everyone will be able to try their hand at stand-up and experienced comedians will also be invited.

An application to discover heritage

#AVEYRON Grégory Alary created an application called Carte du patrimoine in his free time. “The initial desire came from frustration. I was looking for something that could tell me, in a precise and practical way, which monuments to discover. It didn't exist,” explains the 27-year-old computer scientist, a developer by profession.
The Aveyronnais relied on available databases, including those of the Ministry of Culture, to compile more than 45,000 public and private monuments throughout France, including more than 400 in his own department. A Benedictine task with, also, the discovery of a know-how: that of models and interface design.

For each of the approximately 45,000 monuments listed, the application offers a precise location, a photo, historical elements with a description. The application is available in French, German, English, Spanish and Italian and can be downloaded for free on Android and IOS.

Today's figure: 85

#LOZÈRE This is the number of runners who took on the Marvejols-Mende winter race and its difficulties on Sunday 29 December. “We have good weather. The date is also good, between the two end-of-year celebrations “, said Frédéric Mirman, the brand new president of the association that runs the event, both in summer and winter.

“Last year, we only had 50 people.” First to the finish, Sébastien Fanguin reached Mende after 1 hour and 41 minutes of racing.
