The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) arrested Sébastien Lampron, 36, following& #x27;a wave of arrests to put an end to an increase in violence linked to the world of drugs in the greater Quebec region.

Lampron's arrest brings to 22 the number of people arrested since the beginning of the weekend.

Lampron, who lives in Quebec, is suspected of conspiracy to commit a criminal act, on or around on February 9, in the Saint-Raphaël-de-Bellechasse area.

He will return to court on Wednesday, like several people arrested in recent days. He remains detained for the moment.

He is prohibited from entering into communications with four people, including Patrick Boisvert and Carl Martineau. The two men were also arrested in the last hours and face arson charges.

According to our information, two men arrested during the weekend, Jean-François Dion and James Célestin, are part of Dave Pic Turmel's close guard . Turmel is believed to be the head of the Blood Family Mafia (BFM), a group of individuals involved in a conflict with the criminal biker group Hells Angels.

The strategy was in fact to eliminate or remove from circulation, from the criminal ecosystem, the individuals who are the most violent or the most active in this war, analyzes criminologist Maria Mourani at subject of police interventions in recent days.

According to her, the weekend's arrests helped to weaken the' organization, but arrive too late. They don't really have a hierarchy. They have a leader, they have links with other groups in Montreal. They will be impulsive. When there is a chicane, it can degenerate quickly. As for me, we waited too long to react. The Hells had been telling the police for a while: do something before we do something.

The criminologist, however, believes that the intervention will bear fruit. It made it possible to remove a fairly disruptive core in Quebec City, we will see what happens next.
