Patricia Kaas is making her big comeback on the front of the stage. Eight years after her decision to take a break from her career, the singer is joining season 14 of The Voice. She joins Vianney, Florent Pagny and Zaz in the red chairs of the coaches. Viewers will be able to discover it starting on February 1st on TF1.

A few weeks before the broadcast of this new season, Patricia Kaas spoke to the columns of Parisien. On Tuesday, January 14, she spoke about her sudden disappearance from the music world.

Patricia Kaas reveals she had a burnout

Revealed in 1987 with the title Mademoiselle chante le blues, Patricia Kaas quickly found success. During her career, the singer gave about 17,000 concerts. A frenetic pace that ended up having repercussions on her mental health since she had a burnout. “It lasted four months. It was too much of everything. I stopped everything because I was physically and mentally exhausted and I couldn't see what was coming next” she explained.

In addition to career-related exhaustion, the former Eurovision representative has gone through some complicated times in her personal life. “Losing my dog was the straw that broke the camel's back. Over the last few years when I had the hardest time, always having him with me helped me a lot” she confided. A loss that therefore contributed to her decision to take a break.

The singer hesitated to participate in The Voice

At the time of her burnout, Patricia Kaas decided to see a shrink. For four months, she had a string of dates. “Very quickly, she told me that it was okay, because my temperament always makes me see the glass half full” she remembered. Subsequently, the one who found love again in 2024 decided to take some time for herself.

If her participation in The Voice marks her big comeback, after eight years of absence, she hesitated for a long time to accept the role of coach. She revealed this about it: “The production offered it to me three times before I accepted”. After thinking about it carefully, Patricia Kaas finally decided to try the adventure, without putting pressure on herself. A decision she doesn't regret.
