Théo Courcoux, who disappeared a year ago, is still being sought by the police. His father decided to launch an appeal on Thursday, December 12, and hopes that “the people who said nothing at the time” will come out of their silence.
Théo Courcoux, 21 years old and originally from Saint-Nazaire, has been missing since January 1, 2023. His relatives had never spoken out since then and now for them the wait has “longed too long”. His father has appealed to our colleagues at Ouest France. “Someone must know something,” he says.
He is described by our colleagues as a “discreet man”, but now his father wants the “people who said nothing at the time” to finally speak out and testify about what they may know, “even if it seems like a detail to them”.
The day after his disappearance, his father receives “a lot of panic messages.” “I wondered if it was real,” he says. During the investigation, he stayed away from the media, being “afraid that the media coverage would hamper the investigation”, he believes that ” This is no longer the case today, it may even be the opposite”. He also encountered the silence of the investigators.
< p>Today he says: “We know that either he left voluntarily for one reason or another, or he is no longer among us.” “Sometimes, we are lucid and we try to prepare for the worst. But of course, we also want to keep hope,” he adds.
Théo had just landed a permanent contract at Airbus, the company where he had just spent two years of apprenticeship. On December 1, 2023, around 6:20 p.m., he left his job in Montoir-de-Bretagne and was supposed to join his girlfriend. Théo sent a message on Snapchat to a friend, this would be his last sign of life since then.
His car was found in the Méan-Penhoët parking lot, thanks to the message sent to his friend, but the 21-year-old was not found near his vehicle. “At the time, I never would have thought that we would wait so long”, testifies his father.
A judicial investigation had been opened in Nantes for “kidnapping and sequestration” and “the numerous investigations are continuing”, explains Renaud Gandeul, public prosecutor of Nantes.
