These cars can catch fire at any time: Fiat 500s recalled across France due to fire risk

Since Friday, December 6, 2024, Fiat 500 models and an Abarth model have been recalled throughout France due to fire risk.

As indicated on the government website Consumer Recalland the European site Rapex, several Fiat 500 models have been recalled since Friday

Manufacturing defect that could lead to fire

Some of these cars could be a danger to their users due to a manufacturing defect. The Rappel Conso website specifies that a clamp or nut in the battery could “not be firmly tightened”.

This defect can therefore “create electrical arcs, voltage spikes or temperature increases. This can damage the battery and cables, melt the insulation and create a fire risk”, specifies the government website.

The cars affected by this recall were marketed between September 21, 2021 and November 10, 2023. The models affected by this recall are:

Any motorist in possession of one of these vehicles is strongly advised to “contact the dealer”, according to Consumer Recall.
