Décathlon bikes are being recalled due to a major defect.

Décathlon is in trouble. One of its flagship products is once again being recalled. In mid-September, proceedings had already been initiated on Rockrider mountain bike helmets sold during the summer. A defect in one of the parts prevented the helmet from being properly held on the head. The recall procedure is still ongoing. It is once again in the field of cycling that the brand has encountered a problem. This concerns, in fact, UCI XCR bikes. They are being recalled throughout France, as reported by Conso Recall.

They were sold online by the brand between August 14 and September 18, 2024. Several batches of this bike from the Van Rysel brand are affected by this campaign. Five references are affected with the same model code 8772688: 4696569 XCR UCI XS, 4696570 XCR UCI S, 4698754 XCR UCI M, 4698755 XCR UCI L and 4698757 XCR UCI XL. All sizes, from XS to XL, are therefore included in the list of recalled products. Barcodes can also help you identify them: 3583787294185, 3583787294208, 3583787294215, 3583787294222 and 3583787294307.

This bike is a product sold for 7500 euros on the Décathlon website. According to the latter, it is the result of a collaboration with Swiss Side, a company specializing in aerodynamics. "Each line has been studied to offer the lowest resistance to progress, making it one of the fastest time trial bikes in its class,” the site details.

The reason for the recall is “a potential defect in one of the carbon parts of the cockpit: the basebar. This defect can cause fragility of this specific part, which risks breaking”, according to Consumer Recall. The user may therefore risk injury, following a fall caused by the breakage of this part.

If you own this type of bike, you must refrain from using it for your safety. Do not hesitate to go to a store or contact Decathlon customer service. You can get a refund or have the device repaired until April 10, 2025.
