Three individuals have acquired a building on Boulevard Jean-Jaurès to create 5 apartments around an innovative eco-responsible rehabilitation project with a social vocation that will accommodate refugees, with the Adages association.
After 12 months of work carried out by three private investors, the building located at 14, Boulevard Jean-Jaurès was inaugurated this Friday, January 24. This renovation has created five apartments on four levels as part of an unusual, eco-responsible project with a very social vocation that will be rented by the Adages association.
€100,000 per investor
“We have a basic social fibre, and we are people of action through our respective backgrounds. Lodève is a strange city, with all its innovative and experimental projects. It deserves our commitment” summarises Christian Grisinger, who led this “exciting” adventure with Jean-Paul Hamel and Ragnhild Scheel. “We found this building, which had been subject to a danger order since 2014 and was unoccupied, thanks to the 1st deputy Ludovic Cros. We set up an SCI and went for it with the desire to give it a welcoming vocation for migrants in partnership with Adages”.

With the architect Christine Cari-Mantrand, Eco Lodève and La Grande Conserve, two committed local stakeholders, the project was carried out as part of the Défi Travaux operation led by the Lodévois Larzac community of communes.

And since we had a little money left, we decided to equip the apartments with fitted kitchens,” Christian continues. We immediately received a favorable response from the city and it was not a complicated operation to set up”. With a commitment of €100,000 in the end for each of the three private investors. “Our goal is not to make money and we offer a very low rental price. The idea would now be to create a SIC, a cooperative company to allow, via public/private this time, to renew this type of operation with a greater strike force with the banks”.

Money, energy and commitment
“They put a lot of energy and commitment into this project” says Christine Cari-Mantrand, an architect from Lodève, who was chosen to lead it. “At the end of 2022, we saw the advantages of this 360m2 building on 4 levels, crossing towards the Place du Marché, with its remarkable façade on Boulevard Jaurès". The building had undergone many poor renovations, with major problems with the structures and floors. “It was necessary to lift the danger order before creating 5 apartments, two on the ground floor, and one on each floor, based on natural, healthy and sustainable materials, using local businesses, while respecting a tight budget.

“We can only be pleased with this type of initiative in the heart of the city, which is part of the actions carried out to renovate unsanitary housing. And Lodève is ready to engage in a future SIC alongside investors, notes the mayor of Lodève, Gaëlle Lévêque. We have the fruit of in-depth work carried out on the territory, on a complicated building with various dangers, the evacuation of residents and a long procedure, over 10 years. With people who believe in Lodève and who want to get involved.”
“I salute the financial and societal commitment of people who, rather than leaving money in the bank, have decided to invest it in a social enterprise, relying on existing public aid, comments the sub-prefect Eric Suzanne, pointing out an anti-speculative project that is added to other initiatives such as the creation of a rural real estate company. “There is a desire to continue with a Sic in this process of creating quality housing. Things are moving in Lodève and that is very good.”
The final investment amounts to more of €500,000, he received €272,000 in aid (54%) from the National Agency for Housing Improvement, the Department and the Lodévois and Larzac Community of Communes as part of the Défi Travaux operation. I subscribe to read more
