This dizzying tax increase will hurt the wallet, 1500 cities are affected

Bad news arrives for thousands of French people.

Be careful, it will sting! In several thousand municipalities, mayors have decided to take action. to drastically increase a local tax. This is by no means illegal since the State authorizes it, but the tax blow promises to be difficult to achieve. collect for the French people concerned. This had already happened. caused a certain number of them to jump last year but, in 2024, the list of cities concerned has been increased. extended by the government.

In a few weeks, many owners will have the unpleasant surprise of receiving a more expensive tax notice. than that of 2023: the housing tax notice. This still concerns 7.6 million French people. They are liable for this tax when it is a secondary residence which is not rented to another person. the year. For these people, the increase will be significant since many municipalities have decided to reduce their costs. to increase the amount à pay, up to 'à 60%!

When you pay housing tax, part of it goes back to you. the commune and another à intercommunality. This is the share received by the municipality. which can now be increased by 5   60%! Let's take an example. Concretely, on a housing tax which costs you 1000 euros, including 500 euros which goes back to 1000 euros. the municipality, this share can increase à 800 euros (+60%) and increase the total of the invoice to 1300 euros.

Not all cities are affected. These are mainly those where the market of the annual rental is miné by short-term rental, AirBnB type. Consequence: owners no longer want to rent outside their home. the year, or at any time exorbitant prices, and the locals are no longer able to afford it. housing. The town halls have therefore decided to to touch the wallets of these property holders to force them to review their strategy.

Among the towns concerned, Arcachon, Argeles, Bayonne, Briançon, Capbreton, Cassis, Concarneau, le Grau du Roi, Gerardmer, Gruissan, Martigues, Ouistreham, Palavas-les -Flots, Perros-Guirec, Quiberon, Royan or even Les Sables-d'Olonne can be cited. Here, the increase applied is 60%. On the side in Antibes, Bonifacio, La Grande-Motte, Pleneuf Val-André, Ramatuelle, it is 40%. A new feature in these towns, which should surprise many an owner. On the other hand, &agrav; Annecy, Anglet, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris and even Strasbourg, the 60% surcharge is maintained, like last year. In total, 1,467 municipalities apply this increase.
