This is unprecedented, this Star Wars series is so bad that it was cancelled after its first season.

Gone are the days when the Star Wars saga was a hit only in movie theaters. In fact, since 2012, Lucasfilm has been an integral part of the big-eared giant Disney, which had spent more than $4 billion at the time. Disney quickly launched new films (more or less memorable), but also took advantage of its Disney+ platform to multiply the “spin-off” series, starting with The Mandalorian in 2019.

It's (already) over for Star Wars The Acolyte

Alongside The Mandalorian, Disney also launched the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, not to mention Andor, Ahsoka and more recently The Acolyte. A series launched on June 4th, whose plot takes place one hundred years before the birth of the Empire, when the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic had been thriving for centuries, without the slightest war. Unfortunately, The Acolyte will very quickly attract the wrath of many viewers…

Thus, many have pointed out casting choices made to the detriment of the writing of the characters themselves, but also long episodes which contrast with scenes that are too quickly dispatched, a clearly displayed “wokism”, a certain clumsiness in the writing… That didn't stop many fans from enjoying (and defending) The Acolyte, but the show would only have one season.

This had already been mentioned at the beginning of the year by Leslye Headland, the head writer, who had indicated that no second season was in preparation. It is now official, Star Wars The Acolyte will not have a season 2, despite a final episode that suggested a sequel.

In addition to the criticism, Star Wars The Acolyte has also suffered from declining audiences. Indeed, while the first two episodes had the best start of a Disney+ series in 2024, the audience has declined over the episodes, with the last episode even garnering the lowest score for a final episode of a Star Wars series. Added to this are fairly mediocre satisfaction rates among viewers in both Europe and the United States. Not enough to motivate Disney for a second season then.

And if you are a fan of the Star Wars saga, also a gamer in your spare time, let's remember that a certain Star Wars Outlaws is preparing its release on consoles and PC, with a launch scheduled in a few days.
