In this year 2024, France is commemorating the 80th anniversary of its liberation from the Second World War in an exceptional way. In this regard, a 0 euro note was put into circulation in July, a few weeks after the French celebrations in Normandy.

However, all the tickets were sold ahead of the ceremony during a sale organized by Euro Banknote Memory in February: only people who were able to reserve them at that time will be able to have them delivered during this summer month. . Please note, this is not an official currency but rather a symbolic object which recalls a significant event in the history of France.

3000 copies sold in February

This special note, limited to 3,000 numbered copies, represents the landing in Normandy on June 6, 1944, a decisive turning point in the war and a symbol of the fight for freedom. Each ticket is designed as a work of art with design elements that highlight the importance of this event. Among the references, we see in particular the famous poster “To all the French” calling on citizens to resist the Nazi occupiers and signed by General de Gaulle.
