This new alert number that you must quickly add to your directory

A new number may call you and you should really answer, it's important!

Some numbers call for distrust. They may be advertising, or even abusive canvassing or scams. CPF scams, fake advisors, silent calls, they are numerous today and come in different forms. That being said, you should not ignore important calls. A new number, rather long, should attract your attention and you should quickly add it to your directory. It was set up on October 1st and is gradually being extended throughout France.

From now on, all emergency services benefit, in fact, from a single number. It concerns the firefighters but also the SAMU and the Gendarmerie. “If you receive a call from this number, pick up without fear”, assures”the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Charente-Maritime on X. “”This is not a malicious or commercial call but that of an emergency service”, also specifies the Gard gendarmerie.

This is a technical update of telephone standards. It does not, however, remove the essential emergency numbers such as 15 (Samu), 17 (police), 18 (fire brigade) or 112 (emergencies in the European Union). To contact emergency services by SMS, dial 114.

This new number will be used more to call you back if the call service is saturated or unreachable immediately, or the conversation was disconnected. If you did not pick up at this ten-digit number, the department concerned will leave a message with instructions to facilitate the call back. Once called back, a voicemail will redirect you to the right person.

So, make a note of this new number: 0 800 112 112. You can name it “Emergency Services” in your directory so that you have no more doubts. There is nothing to fear since it is completely free and not surcharged. As indicated on the website of the Ministry of Economy, the numbers from 0800 to 0805 are “100% free for the user, even when calling from a mobile”.
