This new radar is already operating in France, many motorists are being caught out

Spread the love

This new generation radar is being deployed on the roads of France and fines are raining down on motorists.

They are the number one enemy of motorists who flirt a little too often with the speed limits. Autonomous radars, powered by batteries and easily movable, trap many drivers every day. It must be said that they have a definite advantage over more traditional radars: that of not being indicated in advance by a sign, which is obviously explained by the fact that they are not fixed. It is therefore difficult to anticipate their presence, even more so when you are driving on roads that you are not used to traveling on.

These autonomous radars have the capacity to record the speed of cars on a four-lane highway and can therefore flash a record number of vehicles per hour. But that's not all, a new technology allows them to vary in real time the speed at which they must be triggered. What for, you might ask? ? To be able to take action on roads where lanes separate and are no longer subject to the same speed limit…

This is the case on this section of the D113, located in the Yvelines, where this new-generation radar was installed during the summer. At this point, the road splits with the possibility of taking the direction of Orgeval or Aubergenville. On the first lane, the speed is limited to 90 km/h, on the second it is forbidden to exceed 80. The new functionality radar allows it to adapt and flash both vehicles that do not respect the 90 to go towards Orgeval but also those that exceed 80 when turning towards Aubergenville.

This innovation naturally increases the risk of being caught red-handed speeding. Several hundred motorists have already paid the price on the D113 this summer. and it is probably not about to stop. As a reminder, on a road where the authorized speed is greater than 50 km/h, speeding between 0 and 20 km/h is worth a fine of 68 euros and the withdrawal of a point on the driving license (unless the excess is less than 5 km/h). Between 20 and 30 km/h, the fine increases to 135 euros and two points are removed, it increases to three if the speeding recorded is between 30 and 40 km/h…

Several autonomous radars equipped with this technology have been deployed in France in recent months and others will be soon. They should trap many motorists who have their foot a little too heavy on the accelerator pedal. To avoid unpleasant surprises, the best thing to do do not forget to respect the rules of the Highway Code.
