A few days before Christmas, Samsung has just received a very nice gift. Its high-end projector The Premiere 8K has just obtained the first “8K” certification on the market by the 8K Association (8KA). Let's take stock.

What does this certification mean??

Let's start by recalling that the 8KA is a global consortium of technology companies that encourages the adoption of this technology. As Samsung explains, the certification evaluates various criteria in order to guarantee an immersive visual experience. This is the case for ” resolution (7680 x 4320), brightness, contrast and color palette”.

Add to these elements: 8K upscaling to elevate low-resolution content, and an immersive audio section that supports the latest formats, the South Korean firm explains. In all of these categories, the Premiere 8K was convincing enough to become the first projector on the market to obtain this certification.

As one might imagine, the company's executives were quick to congratulate themselves on this good news. This is the case for Taeyoung Son, executive vice president of the Visual Display division at Samsung Electronics:

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

Obtaining the industry’s first 8KA certification is a key milestone, as it officially demonstrates the new potential of projection technologies. We are committed to developing an 8K ecosystem by continually integrating new exceptional technologies.

CES 2025 in sight

To further convince the public, Samsung also emphasizes the ease of use of this product, which is equipped with 8K wireless connectivity. In short, you will be able to stream images without any complex configuration, promises the tech giant.

After a first presentation at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, then at IFA 2024 in Berlin last September, Samsung should present The Premiere 8K at CES 2025, according to our colleagues at Frandroid. As for the price of this product, it is not yet known, but the prices are expected to be very high and it will probably not be within everyone's reach.

If you’re interested in projectors, do you think getting 8K certification could make a difference?? Let us know in the comments.

Top takeaways:

  • Samsung’s Premiere 8K projector has just received 8K certification
  • It’s the first device on the market to do so
  • The South Korean company plans to unveil its product at CES 2025
