You are a fan of video games and need to let off steam ? EVA (Esports Virtual Arena) offers the perfect formula. This start-up has developed a unique concept of large-scale virtual reality gaming arenas. Explanations.

A mix of disciplines

Founded in 2018 by Jean Mariotte, Stéphanie Belle and William Klein, EVA had the ambition to transpose the mechanics of first-person shooter (FPS) games into a large-scale virtual reality environment.

In its vast arenas, approximately 500 square meters,Participants are equipped with a virtual reality headset and a dummy weapon in order to participate in competitive team matches that can accommodate up to 12 players simultaneously. EVA itself developed the two games offered, After-H Battle Arena and Moon of the Dead, inspired by the famous Counter Strike.

The space offers total freedom of movement to visitors. This is a huge plus, as current virtual reality experiences are mainly confined to players' homes, giving them limited possibilities. In addition to the game, bars, restaurants, and screens allowing the public to follow the matches in progress are made available.

EVA also appeals internationally

The concept is popular. Almost all major French cities have an EVA arena near their city centre, while seven venues are located in Germany. A venue will soon open in Spain and another in Italy. The start-up has even left Europe to expand to Dallas in the United States, as well as on the country's east coast. The Middle East is also very keen on the experience offered by the young company.

It must be said that EVA's offering is attractive, by offering to play a video game while engaging in a sport. Its clientele includes families, groups of friends, and also companies, who choose this experience for team building.

More than just a game

But the start-up does not intend to stop there. It has developed a league system, including a French championship in partnership with Webedia. Teams of four train in the halls before competing against each other during the year.

Her goal: to take the discipline to new levels, so that it can reach the same level of fame as some electronic sports. According to Le Monde, she is currently working on her third game, which will be similar to a well-known sport. EVA does not hide its ambitions to be part of the first e-sports Olympic Games, which will be held next year.
