A night in the mountains in freezing weather and a memorable adventure for three young women from Drôme who wanted to find their dog. During the night from Sunday to Monday, reports France bleu, they spent hours stuck at an altitude of more than 700 meters.

The dog escaped

The three women, all around thirty, live in Châteauneuf-de-Bordette in the south of the Drôme. Their dog escaped on Sunday evening. That’s why they decided to go looking for him where he was most likely to be: in the mountains.

Equipped flashlights, they walked up to 700 meters above sea level, in the middle of the night.

Five hours of searching

However, shortly after midnight, they found themselves trapped under a rocky ledge. The alert was given to the department's firefighters, who immediately mobilized.

In total, nine rescuers, including three mountain intervention specialists, were dispatched. Drone pilots also helped them to illuminate the area.

Finally, they were rescued around 5am, freezing but in good health. And, to top off this happy ending, even the dog was able to go home.
