Who will buy TikTok?? This is the question that Americans, as well as all those who use the social network around the world, are asking themselves. As we mentioned in our articles, several names are already circulating. But apparently, the new owner of TikTok could also be… the American government. Recently, Donald Trump signed an executive order that asks the secretaries of the Treasury and Commerce to develop a plan to create a US sovereign wealth fund.
As a reminder, sovereign wealth funds, like Norway's, allow states to invest in stocks, properties, etc. As Business Insider reports, during the signing, Trump said: “Other countries have sovereign wealth funds, and they are much smaller countries, and they are not the United States. We have enormous potential in this country.” The president also cited TikTok as an example, explaining that the government could perhaps “do something with TikTok.”

Of course, it is also possible that this statement by Donald Trump is just a way to speed up negotiations between TikTok and potential buyers. As a reminder, the social network was supposed to be banned from January 19. But an executive order signed by Donald Trump allowed the social network to obtain an additional period.
According to the executive order, the 75-day period should allow the new administration to “determine the course of action to be taken with respect to TikTok.” There is every reason to believe that TikTok would have to be bought by an American company, or by a group of wealthy individuals, in order for it to continue to be available in the United States.
In any case, if the Trump administration wants the social network to continue to exist in the United States, it must also take into account national security.
- Donald Trump signs an executive order that orders the development of a sovereign wealth fund for the United States
- During the signing, he cited TikTok as an example
- TikTok was supposed to be banned on January 19, but the Trump administration has granted the social network an additional 75 days
- The social network should be acquired by an American company, before the end of this deadline, so that the social network remains accessible in the United States
