Mobilized for the train

#RODEZ-MILLAU – Around fifty people gathered at Laissac station on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. It was at the call of the CGT Railway Workers' Federation that local elected officials, associations and professionals mobilized to symbolically upgrade the Rodez-Millau line that the Region no longer plans to rehabilitate for the time being. Jean-Luc Gibelin, regional transport representative, clarified: “We have put the project on hold while we gain clarity on the government's intentions regarding the savings requested from local authorities.”

Today's figure: 115

#CEVENNES – This is now the number of municipalities that make up the Cévennes National Park, with the integration of the Gard villages of Vabres (4.75 square kilometers, 141 inhabitants) and Saint-Félix-de-Pallières (18.87 square kilometers, 207 inhabitants), candidates since 2016 and 2018 respectively for the membership area. Torchlit Christmas in the Nîmes Arena

#ANIMATION –On December 20, 21 and 22, 2024, the Nîmes arenas will trade their eternal grandeur for a magical atmosphere: the nighttime torchlight tour, led by the gladiator Achillea. So here we are in 124 AD, in the midst of the festivities dedicated to Saturn, god of agriculture. “Imagine the houses decorated with garlands of greenery, the laughter, the banquets without distinction of social class…” , explains Achillea. Then head to the Middle Ages, in 1424. “Christmas then stretches from December 25 to January 6” , says Achillea. Finally, on the arena track, to the cheers of the Ministri, these light bearers in period costume, Father Christmas appears!

Coffin therapy: a first in France

#MONTPELLIER –MeetEnd is the very first company of its kind in France. It was created by Jessica Djaout, a 41-year-old entrepreneur, in a cozy apartment in the center of Montpellier. In a small room, a coffin is on the floor and a small sign shows a photo of a deceased person… The concept: organize a funeral… while they are still alive. “The principle is to allow a personal immersion and provoke a burst of life. This concept immediately appealed to me. For me, it's the idea of the century,” assures Jessica Djaout. For 190 euros, your funeral is organized. Everything is done on site: photos, clothing, room decor… Once the coffin is entered, a time of meditation begins for the client that can last up to an hour. It's like attending your own funeral. “You feel a little bit of anxiety when the coffin is closed, then your brain understands that something extraordinary is happening”, explains Jessica Djaout. And once symbolically returned to life, “it allows us to better understand our life choices”.

No “I love techno” in 2025

#MONTPELLIER – The dates had been marked by electronic music fans: at the end of April 2025, the I love techno Europe festival was to be held in Montpellier, at the Comédie opera house, in various nightclubs and, most importantly, at the exhibition center with more than 10,000 spectators expected, as every year. But this Tuesday, the organizer, the multinational Live Nation, announced the end of the festival that had left Belgium to settle in Montpellier in 2011 where the biggest stars of the genre played. There will therefore be no 12th edition, as Armel Campagna, director of the festival, said. “We are taking a break in 2025 because we did not want to do badly, and we will see for 2026”, Armel Campagna indicated.
