“Many passengers on the bus are foreign nationals,” Nordland County Police said. A total of 58 people were injured in the accident. According to the county police district chief of staff, Bent Are Eilertsen, the bus contained eight different nationalities. Three people were airlifted out by helicopter and other passengers were evacuated to schools and hospitals in the area. .

The Norwegian Red Cross also sent staff to the scene and dispatched a boat to transport evacuated passengers. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre expressed his thoughts to those affected by the accident. .
