Un lotissement illégal de gens du voyage évacué

#MONTPELLIER130 police officers intervened this Thursday, January 16 in Lattes, to evict the 150 people who were occupying an illegally urbanized agricultural plot. Gravel streets, fences and gates, small buildings, septic tanks: over the years, a small neighborhood had been built along the TGV line, not far from Mas de Saporta.

On site, the prefect recalled the steps of the long procedure that made it possible to put an end to this situation. “There was a risk of the situation becoming entrenched,” indicated the State representative. He recalled that the reception plan for travelers ” is applied 80% in the department.”

A cold case for Grêlé ?

#GARD According to BFMTV, the Grêlé case has been reopened by the unsolved serial crimes unit in Nanterre. The serial killer was found dead in Grau-du-Roi, after confessing to his murders in a letter. The case that the Nanterre unit will be investigating dates back to the 1990s in Essonne.

A man was found tied to a tree, with a bullet lodged in the back of his skull. It was this ammunition that led investigators to reopen the case. It was a PA MAC 50 bullet, the kind used by the gendarmes. When we know that François Verove spent years committing crimes using and abusing his law enforcement equipment, the question arises.

Gardiole fire: learning lessons

#FRONTIGNAN More than 100 people attended the first public feedback meeting after the Gardiole fire of August 18, 2024, which destroyed 310 hectares. The biggest fire of the summer season in France crossed the massif in three hours. The challenge of these meetings: to learn lessons from what happened.

While the causes of the fire are still unknown (an investigation is underway), the consequences are still visible. Elected officials, firefighters and ONF agents were able to give advice to those present. “In cases like this,” Commander Sanchez said, “our missions are to save people first, then property, and finally nature. And if you find yourself in a real house with cleared land around it, you have to confine yourself while waiting for any evacuation orders.”
The issues of rebuilding nature, access and clearing were also addressed.

Today's figure: 12,000

#NÎMES This is the record number of participants for the twelfth edition of the Urban Trail, which will take place on February 16. Yesterday, the city gave details of the three courses of 42, 16 and 10 km that will crisscross the city.

A quarter of the runners from 42 nationalities and 92 French departments are from Nîmes. This total places the Nîmes urban trail on the highest step of the podiums of urban trails, equal in participants with Rennes and ahead of Lyon.
