On January 23, 2024, Alexandra Sonac, a 36-year-old farmer, and her 12-year-old daughter Camille, were fatally mown down by a car on a roadblock set up by farmers on the RN20, in Pamiers. At the time, it was in the midst of the agricultural crisis. An accident for which the driver of the car will have to answer, during his trial scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 20225 before the Foix Criminal Court. This Armenian national will be tried for aggravated involuntary manslaughter: he did not have a driving license and failed in his obligations to exercise caution. He faces ten years in prison.

Montpellier unveils its bustram which will circulate from May 2025

#TRANSPORT –To perfect the alternative mobility offer to the car, the Montpellier Metropolis unveiled on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 its bustram, an intermediate between tram and bus, and which will run on a dedicated lane to optimize its journey time. This fleet of 100% electric buses, produced by the manufacturer MAN, will thus have a frequency similar to the tram. And like the tram lines, the first bustram line will connect the Place de l'Europe in Montpellier to Notre-Dame de Sablassou in Castelnau-le-Lez. As for the design, it is the internationally renowned French poster artist and designer Alain Le Quernec who was chosen to dress the first bustram line. The theme “The values ​​of the Republic” was chosen. The bustram will therefore be in the tricolor colors with the words “Free, equal, together”.

Snow on the Aigoual and the prospect of a reopening

As snow fell on the Aigoual massif, Monday January 20, 2025, the managers of the Alti Aigoual ski resort managed to reach an agreement with an insurer from Vigan to cover their eleven ski lifts. A godsend for Denis Boissière who had been forced to close them at the end of December 2024, due to lack of liquidity to insure them. The resort will therefore be able to reopen. “We hope there will still be snow before the February holidays”, comments the manager, who points out that the ski season represents 70% of his income, due to the lack of summer activities. Pierre Rabischong dreamed of making paraplegics walk

#DEATH – Montpellier doctor Pierre Rabischong has died at the age of 93. Co-founder of the Propara Institute in Montpellier, he had led the European project “Get Up and Walk”. His goal: to make paraplegics walk again using an electrostimulation implant. On September 28, 1999, Marc Merger, 38, was operated on at Propara and walked again, but the results were not validated… The program would not be completed. But in May 2023, researchers made a paraplegic walk again using the power of thought, using Pierre Rabischong's “Get Up and Walk” program. Pierre Rabischong's funeral will be held at Saint-Pierre Cathedral in Montpellier on January 27, 2025 at 10:30 a.m.
