Spread the love

If you notice poor sound quality on your TV during dialogues, you are clearly not alone. In fact, during filming, productions prioritize visuals to the detriment of the sound quality of series and films. Result: all those who only have a simple audio system, or most viewers, suffer in front of their TV.

A solution based on AI

It is in this delicate context that this new innovation can make all the difference. DTS has indeed presented DTS Clear Dialogue. As its name suggests, this device uses artificial intelligence to isolate dialogues. It can then adjust them to improve their clarity. And it seems to go beyond what Sony currently offers, report our colleagues at Journal du Geek.

This system is all the more promising because it allows you to create personalized profiles. A possibility that is all the more appreciable for households whose members suffer from hearing disorders. Thus, everyone will be able to adjust this tool as they wish.

The cherry on the cake is that DTS Clear Dialogue has been designed to adapt to most content, whether it is films, series, TV shows, sporting events or even live broadcasts. It also takes into account most languages.

A highly anticipated innovation

Even before its launch, the success of this technology is hardly in doubt. DTS has conducted a survey, and it turns out that 79% of American consumers say they are more likely to buy a smartTV that would benefit from this innovation. Many of them point out problems listening to dialogue or report that the sound level of parts without dialogue is too high. As always, we'll have to test it out to see for ourselves, but it's still very promising.

Proud of this new device, Geir Skaaden, director of products and services at Xperi (DTS's parent company), comments: “Attempts to mitigate the limitations of audio post-processing don't address the complex underlying issues of language, content and environment, and can't account for the individuality of each viewer.”.

For your part, could you be tempted by such an innovation ? Do you also have trouble with dialogues on television? Tell us in the comments.

What to remember :

  • Problems listening to dialogues on televisions are recurring
  • DTS has just presented a technology that could solve this flaw
  • It uses AI to isolate dialogues and adjust them to improve their clarity
  • Viewers are very demanding
