Twenty firefighters from Hérault sent as reinforcements to Mayotte

Le président du Département, Kléber Mesquida, l’a annoncé ce lundi 16 décembre lors de l’assemblée du conseil.

A column of firefighters from Hérault, around twenty personnel, will be sent to Mayotte to reinforce the relief efforts following the passage of cyclone Chido, which devastated the French overseas department in the Indian Ocean. The President of the Department, Kléber Mesquida, announced this on Monday, December 16, during the assembly of the departmental council.

Rescue units

As early as Sunday, December 15, Jérôme Bonnafoux, the deputy director of the strategic headquarters of Sdis 34 (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service) indicated that his services had been requested to provide Rescue, Support and Search Units (Usar), specialized in searching for victims in the rubble.

Advanced medical post with doctor

Many shanty towns have indeed been completely destroyed under the effect of extremely violent winds. The Hérault firefighters also received a request for an advanced medical post with a doctor.
