Alerted by the father, the police intervened and began searching for the children's mother, who was found about an hour later wandering and singing in the street, naked, according to RCI Guadeloupe. The woman was arrested by the police and placed in police custody before this regime was deemed incompatible with the mother's condition, said the prosecutor of the Republic of Pointe-à-Pitre, Caroline Calbo, according to proposals reported by BFMTV. The woman arrested has since been hospitalized in a psychiatric ward. The man who found the dead children was in shock and was taken care of by emergency services.

This macabre discovery led to the opening of an investigation for “murder by ascendant of a minor under 15” by the Pointe-à-Pitre public prosecutor's office. The investigations were entrusted to the Pointe-à-Pitre gendarmerie research brigade. While the circumstances in which the found the victims and the mother of the family impose to study the track of an intra-family crime, the prosecutor of Pointe-à-Pitre specified that the couple of two children was not separated.
