Landerneau may have had their benchmark match, but for the BLMA, it was a cold shower that the players brought back from Brittany. Dominated from start to finish without having been able to respond to the physical challenge imposed by their opponent. The public at the Cimenterie did not make a mistake, standing to accompany the last minute of the match. The locals had also taken the advantage from the start through Trasi and Baker to quickly lead 15-4 (5'), forcing the BLMA coach, Valery Demory, to take a time-out.
The entrance of the experienced Anna Suarez (18 points) gave the visitors confidence, especially since Stervinou was not successful from a distance and, in the 10th minute, Landerneau led 21-14. In the second quarter, Trasi and Woolfolk continued to score from a distance and, as Montpellier did not find coherent offensive solutions due to the excellent Landerneau defense, the gap swelled to reach 19 points at the break (44-25). It must be said that Montpellier was far from its offensive standards (8/23 shooting).

A too late visitor surge
The Héraultaises were going to give an illusion at the start of the second half but Evelyn Akhator ruled the roost in the “paint”, and the gap continued to increase to reach 25 points in the 25th (56-31), with a Priscilla Lezin completely successful three-pointer. The Montpellier bench then lost its cool and was penalized with a technical foul by the main referee. By the 30th, the die was cast (63-43).
The Landernéennes then only had to manage the last quarter. Angel Baker, back to her best, continued to fuel the score despite a last stand by the Suarez-Naigre duo, which brought Montpellier back to 12 points (69-57, 36'). In the final moments, LBB could count on Akhator to reign under the circles.
