Gordy Jean-Paul, 34 years old, was shot dead Monday evening in Terrebonne.
Radio-Canada
The two individuals who were arrested Monday evening following the murder of singer Gordy Jean-Paul, alias “Young Dev,” were charged with premeditated murder Tuesday at the Laval courthouse.
18-year-old Izaia Schorgeold Ford and a 16-year-old juvenile, both from Toronto, were apprehended shortly after police killed Gordy Jean-Paul from Terrebonne, not far from the crime scene.
Around 9:30 p.m. Monday evening, patrol officers were called to a commercial parking lot at the intersection of Boulevard des Seigneurs and Rue Vaillant, where they discovered the body of the rapper seriously injured by a firearm in a car.
The 34-year-old man was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead a short time later.
A burned car, registered in Ontario, was found near Moody Boulevard, not far from the crime scene. As for the two suspects, they were allegedly picked up by the police while they were trying to call a taxi at a nearby gas station.
The investigation was handled by the Sûreté du Québec.
Known in police circles, Gordy Jean-Paul was linked to Laval street gangs. He had a criminal record, notably for using a firearm in a public place.
Ironically, his brother Rodney Jean-Paul was killed in similar circumstances just over 20 years ago. On September 1, 2003, Rodney Jean-Paul, then 19 years old, was riddled with bullets in front of his residence in the Saint-François district of Laval, during a turf war between the Crack Down Posse and the Bo-Gars .
Gordy Jean-Paul had sworn to avenge him.
