UPB organized a public meeting on Friday, January 17 to begin developing a participatory program and form an apolitical team.
During the last municipal elections, the opposition group Unis pour Beaucaire brought together “people from different political backgrounds to provide a different vision from the one put forward by the city hall” explained Pascale Duplissy, who was the head of the list.

“We have built a collective program, we have worked together for six years, we have lived an incredible human adventure, created links. All decisions have been taken together, it is the DNA of our group” continued the elected official in front of around sixty people gathered in the 2 G room for this first public meeting.
With more than a year to go until the next municipal elections, the cards are being reshuffled. “It is unclear whether the group will still be called UPB, or who will be on the roster. What we want today is to launch a joint reflection, to co-construct a program” continues Pascale Duplissy.

UPB had proposed a small survey on social networks, asking Beaucairois to define their priorities. “The economy (companies, shops, etc.) is the first concern” deciphered Nicolas Pozzolini, but also roads, parking, etc. Then there are the subjects of canteens, schools, daycare centers, then health, social issues, the lives of seniors…”
Luc Perrin, one of the four elected officials of UPB, returned to several municipal files, denouncing “the announcements and propaganda of the municipality. Everything seems beautiful, but when you scratch behind the varnish, the reality is not brilliant”.
Dominique Pierre, elected to the municipal council and the community council, provided details on the work carried out in Beaucaire Terre d'Argence and the current projects such as the development of the Aillaud block. “We had Juan Martinez elected as president of the CCBTA against Julien Sanchez” Dominique Pierre also recalls.
An apolitical team
The elected officials stressed that working in a municipality run by the RN was “difficult, but we let us follow advice after advice, the management of the city. Today, we are launching an appeal to all people of good will, to those who wish to invest in Beaucaire and work together, to join us to set up an apolitical team. The key word will be participation.“
Discussions with the public allowed us to address concerns (the THT line, the state of the roads, the cultural program, the city center, etc.) and many questions about the strategy to be implemented: “We must take note of what is not working, but we must also be proactive!”
With 14 months to go before the elections, the first milestones have been laid…
