Running for a good cause. Following Cyclone Chido that devastated Mayotte, US Sète Athletics has decided to organize a “solidarity run” on Saturday, January 4 at 4 p.m., starting from Place Roger-Thérond, with the aim of raising funds.“We run with our hearts at Ussa, so even on our small scale we want to support the population there. A former member of the club, with whom we are still in contact, lives in Mayotte and assured us that everything could help”, says Isabelle Quesada, a member of the association.

100% of donations to the Red Cross

Without a time or podium, the event is open to everyone, club members or not. Accompanied by Ussa runners, participants will be able to walk or run on a 5 or 10 km course, along the beach and the Lido. To make donations, which will be entirely donated to the Sète branch of the Red Cross which will be responsible for transmitting the funds to Mayotte, a QR code will be available on the day of the race. It will also be possible to deposit a cash donation in a box provided for this purpose.

Last year, the Ussa organized this same type of event following the earthquake in Morocco and donated the money collected to the Solidarité Marathon des Sables association. “It's a great way to start the year and a great day to bring people together”, says Isabelle Quesada. With its hundred members, the club organizes its Course cettoise every June.
