Val-de-Marne: what do we know about the police intervention that caused the shooting death of a man ?

The Villeneuve-Saint-Georges train station district has é was the scene of a confrontation between a man and police officers. One of them shot the man several times, who did not survive. An investigation is opened.

It all started with a neighborhood dispute. The police were called around six in the morning because of a man who was shouting in a building near the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges train station (Val-de-Marne). A team of three police officers, who had just started their shift, quickly arrived on the scene for this man who was banging on a door shouting “Allah Akbar”.

According to information relayed by Le Parisien, the man repeated his remarks to the arrival of the police officers, pointing a gun at them, the investigation will have to determine whether it was fake or not. Feeling threatened, one of the police officers opened fire on the 30-year-old man, hitting him in the stomach. He did not survive his injuries.

According to the initial information provided by the police to our colleagues, the man did indeed reside in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, but not at the address where the police intervened.

An investigation is opened

An investigation for intentional violence resulting in death without the intention of causing it has been opened against the police officer who fired the shots. This should determine whether the weapon in the man's possession was a real danger or not to the police. It will also help to understand what the victim's intentions were, whether she was known to the intelligence services or for psychiatric follow-up. Alcohol and toxicology analyses will also be conducted.
