VIDEO. Therapeutic Cannabis: “A Matter of Life and Death”, Patient Sandra's Desperate Appeal for Treatment to Continue

Spread the love

Sandra Rey is one of 1,850 patients who participated in the therapeutic cannabis trial protocol. She was shocked to learn that the experiment was being stopped next June, which gives her six months to wean herself off it, while this treatment was finally allowing her to return to a semblance of a normal life. She gives her testimony.

Suffering from pudendal neuralgia for over 17 years, Sandra, who lives in Caissargues in the Gard, goes through a daily ordeal. Her pathology, which affects the pudendal nerve that serves the entire pelvic-perineal region, causes her unbearable pain in this area and is resistant to all treatments and surgeries. It is in this context that she joined the therapeutic cannabis experimentation protocol in 2021.

The effects are spectacular, the pain decreases significantly and falling asleep is more peaceful. So, when she learns that she has to start weaning, because the experiment will end in June and no follow-up is currently planned, it is a cold shower. Worse, “a death sentence”, for Sandra.

Encouraging results

In addition to despair, there is incomprehension. On the ANSM website, regarding the experiment, we can still read: “The data collected during the first 2 years of the experiment showed a secure and operational distribution circuit, an efficacy of cannabis in the indications of the experiment, maintained over several months in certain patients, as well as an expected and reassuring safety profile with few serious adverse effects”.

Today, Sandra is begging politicians to legislate on the issue and allow patients for whom therapeutic cannabis has proven to be life-saving to continue their treatment. You can also find Sandra's testimony, alongside other patients from the region who participated in the trial, in the Midi Libre file dedicated to the end of the experimentation of therapeutic cannabis.
